True story, the artwork for the Castlevania series was what first inspired me to want to learn how to draw.

look at this shit:

(especially this first painting, I can almost pinpoint my yearning to learn how to draw began the moment I saw this for the first time)

It was only quite recently that I learned that the main artist for that series is a woman named Ayami Kojima. She apparently actually PAINTED IMPASTO onto her drawings, and these are photographs of the drawings showing light catching on the edges of the paint, which explains why it has that beautiful texture that I could never ever figure out.

NO I DIDN’T SEE THAT!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, I guess we’ve all just taken for granted that when a character who should probably not be speaking English starts speaking English, that character should sound like standard BBC English. I think it actually helped to keep the twist of the first game under wraps because while I could wrap my head around “Gabriel Belmont” speaking with a Scottish accent (I mean that’s a big family, who knows, they might have had a branch from Scotland or something (Scotland/Romania etc were places that existed in the original games (and don’t exist in this reboot) so I guess I was confused)) I was not expecting Dracula or Alucard to have that accent.

Also I’m laughing at how that comic makes it seem like they’re hard to understand because they’re not - they’re also using extremely toned down accents. Also here is where I realize that Richard Madden aka Robb Stark is playing Alucard… Those games are voice acting porn, I tell you.
