ok I’m watching the Arya-Sandor scenes and
S T R A N G E R
When I think about Game of Thrones the thought process is
“on one hand Sandor Clegane is maybe my favorite fictional character
on the other hand I don’t like this show”
fitzwilliam-darcy asked: The Sandor scene was glorious though. He kept going on about Sansa. AND they made it tv canon that Sandor is not a rapist (which matches the book but still good on them for spelling it out). Good job imo. Daario translated nicely to the screen. Otherwise, Sansa is not here for this kneeling bullshit, and Arya is not here for that weird Gendry/Mel scene... wth. Still streets ahead from last ep though
What, are you kidding me??? Maybe I should actually give it a watch???
Hm, just had a thought.
Catelyn gets attacked for not being nice to Jon Snow, and Sansa gets attacked for not kneeling for Tyrion.
Both actions are, when viewed out of context, not terribly nice things to do. However, for each party, it was their only way of saying “I do not consent to this situation.”
Catelyn couldn’t consent to Jon’s presence in her life, so she avoided him and ignored him.
Sansa couldn’t consent to her marriage to Tyrion, so she refused to kneel for him.
Both were acts of defiance in a patriarchal world that didn’t take their feelings into account.
hey remember when i posted this
back in january
Game of Thrones ranks somewhere on the Girl Dislike scale between NASCAR and that National Geographic show where the guy sticks his hand in a catfishâs mouth. If you’re clueless as to why she’s intent on harshing your TV buzz, here are some telltale clues.
“It’s hard to follow.” Because obviously women aren’t capable of such complex thought. What a ridiculous article. The entire premise is deeply flawed since just as many women as men watch the show (if not more).
“It reminds us of the kids that used to play magic cards in the cafeteria.” And there’s nothing ladies hate more than being reminded of nerds in high school, am I right? All the ladies hate that sort of thing. (I don’t know how to break this news to all the kickass ladies I know who possibly were the sort of person who played Magic in the cafeteria in high school…)
Um, I know girls who aren’t in to fantasy who love this show almost as much as I do. Hell, the women in my life, in general, are as passionate, if not more passionate, about ASOIAF than I am. What a load of shit.
Oh fuck this article!
“Here’s how to convince her to give it a little Sunday night love: … Tell her about Sir Loras. Girls love gay guys.”
is this a joke
i honestly thought this list was going to be
- have you seen how much sexualized violence against women is on this show
- seriously like for five seconds pay attention to how any given woman on this show is treated
- and what harms are specifically perpetuated against her
- and how much authority she has over her body
- both in-universe
- and as a fetishized sex object for target audience dudebros
- you do realize how much this entire show was written to flatter and appease and titillate you right
- at my expense you realize
- like i just want to
- acknowledge that
- real quick
- for real there are legitimate reasons why women might not want to watch this show and also this article is a goddamn affront
I just went through my Sandor Clegane tag backwards, and it’s like a story about how at first I was really disgustedly angry about Game of Thrones, then I became perfectly meh about Game of Thrones and then finally I got really really really incandescently excited about Game of Thrones.
this show just can’t shut up about all the male characters being great at sex
here’s the thing though benioff & weiss: women’s bodies are not spectacles. women’s bodies are not here for your entertainment, or to boost your ratings, or to help you make a name for yourself as “most risque motherfuckers on tv right now”.
women’s bodies have been trampled on, beaten down, abused, raped, and mutilated in every way since the dawn of fucking time and WOMEN’S BODIES ARE SICK OF IT. you are disgusting. you disgust me. have the women of this series taught you nothing? have the bodies and narratives of women such as elia martell, cersei lannister, tysha, etc. had no effect on you whatsoever? it is bad enough as it is. it is bad enough as it is.
stop sexualizing violence. stop sexualizing violent acts. stop sexualizing weapons. stop sexualizing rape. stop. stop. look in the mirror. take a breath. acknowledge the fact that you are doing shitty things and stop doing shitty things.
