You’ve got Rumplestiltskin - early, with the limp.

And you’ve got The Dark One - at that point he’s very dangerous.

And then you’ve got Rumple (I call him “Rumple”) after that - who’s so old that he’s sort of lost the blood lust  He becomes more… he’s not funny, but he can see the humor in situations. He’s so old that he’s seen it all before.

I wanted to make Mr. Gold entirely different from the Rumplestiltskin we see at the beginning of the first season. To make him calm, very much in control. Whereas, on the other side you’ve got Rumplestiltskin, who is crazy, capable of anything. (x)
